other Castiel has wings, though they are kept hidden from view. He is never seen without his beige trench coat, though his clothes are merely a matter of necessity than preference.
personality A majority of the time Castiel lurks on the perimeters of socially awkward. He is neither stupid, nor slow, nor naive, but some things just elude him. And, despite his adorable good looks, Cas is a warrior, a soldier and fiercely loyal, especially to his adopted family, the Winchesters. Some may say he has a particular fondness for the elder Winchester brother, Dean, but Cas will argue it is simply that the two of them share a more profound bond.
Castiel enjoys spending time with the aforementioned Winchesters. In the whole of the universe it is his most favourite thing to do, even if they are doing nothing but sitting around and reading or drinking beer. Cas enjoys being in their presence.
With his increasing humanity Cas has discovered a whole new level of daily problems. Feelings, emotions, the need to be hugged- all of them are taking their toll on the former angel of the Lord.
miscellaneous Cas doesn't necessarily understand that reference.
history Cas was once a warrior of Heaven, a loyal follower to the will of God. The first few thousand years of his life are, though remarkable, not of any import. But then he yanked Dean Winchester from the bowels of Hell and his entire world changed. Questioning and doubt replaced his blind faith and, with the help of his new found human companions, Cas broke away from the Host of Heaven (with a few unpleasant consequences) to help fight for humanity. His loyalty, once conflicted and divided, settled firmly on the side of the Winchesters (some would say solely on Dean's). Cut off from Heaven for his dissidence, the past year or so has been more of a learning curve for Castiel than any number of the ones that passed before.
roleplay sample Castiel's wings settle behind him as he lands outside the motel within which he knows the Winchesters are residing. He can see Sam's silhouette in the window, back lit by the harsh light from within. He knows Dean is in there without having to see him. He strides towards the front door, having opted this time to arrive 'like a normal person' as Dean had instructed so many times when reprimanding Cas on his untimely arrival into his personal space. It's awkward, but Cas doesn't wish to anger either of the humans in his charge.
He is face to face with the door, wondering whether to knock or just walk in when he hears Dean's voice on the other side of the thin walls. It is tired, worn, and Cas feels guilty. He knows that every time he appears the boys assume he is bringing bad news. A new challenge. Something evil. And there are times when Cas really and honestly just wants to drop in, just to see them, to be in their company, but the expectant looks they give him and the barely-concealed wear in their expressions always makes Cas feel like shit, to coin a term he has adopted from Dean.
And so he is hesitant, wondering if he should knock, wondering if it's worth the moments of despair he will no doubt see or if he should stop being so selfish and leave them in peace.
With a flutter of wings Cas disappears back to the celestial realm.
