personality Despite having been born in the early 18th century, Aria has always been incredibly open minded, and adventurous, even more so, considering her sexuality. She was, and still is, very accepting, and willing to try just about anything once. Despite the fact that she's a vampire now, she still places a high value on human life, killing only when it's absolutely necessary, and trying to maintain as much of herself from her life as possible. She abhors the concept of killing humans for fun or sport, but doesn't hold it against the vampires that choose to follow that path. She's a very delicate balance between shy and vain, being much more soft spoken among her own kind, and other immortals, knowing they're less succeptable to her charms. Around humans, especially when hunting, a whole new side of her comes out, and she acts confident, almost to the point of being cocky, and incredibly flirtatious and sexual. Whatever it takes to draw you in.
miscellaneous She prefers to feed off of humans than animals, but often waits too long to do so, and ends up having occasional problems managing her bloodlust.
historyAria was raised by her parents in rural France. That being said, they were a part of the nobility, and therefore, very well-off. She grew up, not being spoiled exactly, but she never was without what she needed, and often wanted as well. They had a huge estate that included a garden, and several acres of forest, so she never really felt the need to leave. When she wanted to explore? She had to go no further than their backyard.
Unfortunately, that all changed when she was about fifteen. Her father had properties in many of the French colonies, and they were what provided the bulk of Aria's family's income. After the treaty ending the Seven Year War was signed in 1763 (when Ashley was ten), France lost the majority of these colonies. It took a few years, but the loss of the colonies eventually made its way back to France, bringing with it economic hardships for the families that relied on them. The Bristol family had to give up their mansion and estate, and move close to Paris. This was when Aria began to question the way things worked more, and so she began her night-time explorations of the city. After a while, she had settled into a routine, and become bored...so she started venturing farther and farther into the 'bad' parts of the city...which was where she met her "sire," a somewhat young female vampire, who quickly became infatuated with her. After a few months of a clandestine romance, Jacqueline decided to change Aria. They remained together for several months...but eventually, the elder vampire abandoned her, and Aria was left to fend for herself.
Since then, she has been a nomad, traveling from place to place, seeing the world, and living among humans whenever possible. Since the vampire that created her wasn't part of a clan, it was several decades before Aria even knew that was how most vampires lived, and still can't quite get accustomed to the idea, and so, she tends to live on her own.

Though the night was cool, it was also beautiful. The soft breeze wound its way through the trees, whispering words that only Kaia could hear, and she lamented, wishing she wasn't the only one to hear and understand its beautiful song. The wind picked up ever so slightly, lightly tossing her loose waves of blonde hair, gently caressing her body, pale skin giving off a soft luminescence under the partial light provided by the moon and stars. As she walked through the small forest she had come to call home, however temporarily, she reached a slender arm out, allowing her fingers to trail across the surface of the trees as she passed, speaking to them softly in the her old voice. The one she'd had eons ago, before she had learned from the humans to speak "properly."
With every exhale came a soft mist of ice crystals, and she reveled in their beauty, eyes sparkling with delight. Despite the fact that she was entirely unclothed by human standards, the cold air of the autumn night did not bother her. After all, for all intents and purposes, this body of hers wasn't even real. Well, she mused, pausing in her progress, it was real, she supposed, but only as long as she chose to maintain it. At the heart of her being, she was nothing more than a spirit; literally a part of nature personified, and given a life of its own. One of very few that were left. Those dryads that had mixed with the humans, bearing their children, had become stuck. Limited to their one shape, the human blood that ran through their veins dulling their connection to their earth. Though they could still hear its whispers, they could no longer become one with the natural world as those before them had.
Pausing once more at this thought, Kaia nodded to herself, letting her form slip ever so slightly, as she stopped to really listen to, and communicate with the earth. Whispering softly to the ancient tree standing tall and strong before her, she let her hand rest upon its bark for a moment, before allowing her physical form to fall away entirely, as she entered the tree, sharing in its great strength, and spirit. Like this, the whispers of the world became full voices, telling stories, and speaking of what they had experienced, and witnessed. And Kai was always glad to listen, to receive and carry on whatever messages the earth had to impart.
She was now seeing through the eyes of the earth itself, feeling the delicate ebb and flow of life, and the energies that kept the natural world in balance. She heard of the good times, of the sun, and rain, and of the bad. The foreign lives throwing off the natural balance. The loss of life at the hands of those who did not understand the way of the world. And she was glad to share her own experiences, and spirit in return. The trees didn't know fear or hatred like mortal beings did, and Kaia tried to live by their example, not allowing the time she had spend among the humans in the world they had made to taint her.
Relaxing entirely, the dryad made herself completely open to the forest, and surrounding areas, and for a fleeting moment, she allowed herself to believe that the world -- or at least this little bit of it -- was at peace. The illusion was shattered, however, when she heard the murmurs from the forest's edge. The earth didn't enjoy being fed off blood; it was unnatural to it, as there was no other race that would kill its own as ruthlessly as humanity. Feeling a stab of worry for whoever it was that was bleeding so profusely, Kaia murmured her thanks to the tree, as she separated herself from it, taking on her "human" form once more.
Closing her eyes briefly, the woman allowed the earth to guide her, leading her in the right direction. She moved swiftly, hoping to arrive in time to be of some assistance to whoever had been injured. As she reached the forest's edge, her slender form was bathed in moonlight, pale skin nearly glowing in the dark. As she continued on, the corners of her lips pulled downwards into a frown. She was taking far too long; at this rate, she would be no good at all. No sooner had the thought arrived, though, then Kaia seemingly found her destination. An estate, a human home, surrounded by a large fence. It looked like it must have been gorgeous at one point, the large, white structure, but at the current moment, it had fallen into disrepair, the outline of the home sagging and bending at loose angles, in lazy contrast to the sharp geometric lines that most humans preferred to comprise their structures. The home must have been abandoned, she noted, though that thought was far from her priority. Green eyes narrowed, she scanned the area, heart racing as she finally found what had drawn her to the site in the first place. The limp form of a fair skinned, dark-haired woman, splayed haphazardly across the lamenting earth. A soft cry falling from her lips, the dryad hurried over, dropping to her knees next to the woman's body. That's all it was, she was able to ascertain within moments -- a corpse. Touching the woman's still-warm cheek softly, she whispered her apologies, bowing her head in respect for the dead.
She remained motionless for several moments, before standing gracefully, and turning to face the figure concealed in the shadows. She hadn't been aware of the presence when she had initially arrived, though that didn't make anything certain. She could have missed the being in her rush to provide aid -- which had failed. Kaia was at a loss of what to say, however, keeping silent, though her eyes shone with poorly concealed accusations, despite the fact that whether the other party was responsible for the atrocity committed remained to be seen. "What happened to her," she demanded softly, not entirely sure she wanted to hear the answer. The violence of humankind never failed to shock her.
