personality Penny is a cheerful, mischievous girl who gets herself into trouble far more often than is good for her. She has a decent sense of self-preservation and won't go out of her way to get into danger; she just has the unlucky habit of ending up there anyways. She's made a concerted effort to keep herself one step removed from the paranormal world, but it's so interesting to her that she can't help sticking her nose into things she maybe shouldn't. She's intensely curious and loves to learn, which means she knows a little about a lot of things. She's headstrong and a little bit brash, and she will get angry, but never sad. She touts herself as a "living library" and won't join in on hunts, but is always happy to lend a hand or a book to those braver than she.
miscellaneous Lives in London most of the year but spends all of summers with her family in California. Has a black cat named Yog Sothoth. Her mother is a witch, but her father doesn't know about it.
history Penny had a fairly normal childhood, except for her mother's distinctly embarrassing choice of name. She went to elementary school like every child her age, and middle school. It was late in 8th grade that she discovered her mother was a witch, but instead of being shocked or horrified she was instantly fascinated and insisted her mother teach her the basics. By the time she was halfway through high school, she'd devoted most of her free time to learning everything she could about the "magic world" (though her mother tried to break her of the habit of calling it that, she never could). She graduated UCLA with a degree in folklore and followed her businessman boyfriend of three years to London, where he promptly dumped her for his secretary. Angry but undeterred, she left him for her own flat in London, got a job as a librarian, and has lived there to this day.
